Overview

Gain the skills, knowledge and confidence required to work with vulnerable children and young people in youth residential care settings.

Residential care is a high demand area that is growing fast in Australia. During this course you will undertake three mandatory units required to work in the sector, as determined by the Department of Health and Human Services.

You will gain knowledge of:

  • facilitating responsible behaviour
  • working effectively in trauma informed care
  • providing primary residential care

Course contents

In order to be issued a Statement of Attainment for the unit(s) of competency, within the VET Non-Award Course TNAAV Residential Care Top Up Skills, a student must successfully undertake the following unit(s):

CORE UNITS

Recognition of Prior Learning and/or Credit Transfers

Previous completion of units at the Polytechnic or any other Registered Training Organisation and/or previous attainment of skills and knowledge may be credited towards this course. Units must satisfy the completion rules of the qualification and be assessed as appropriate by the Polytechnic.

Gain the skills, knowledge and confidence required to work with vulnerable children and young people in youth residential care settings. You will undertake three mandatory units for working in this sector, as determined by the Department of Health & Human Services.  These units cover trauma, residential care work, and managing behaviour.

Meeting the minimum admission requirements does not guarantee you entry into this course.
