The City Convention Centre on Flinders Street in Melbourne’s CBD is a short stroll from public transport, cafes, restaurants and accommodation.

Located on the 12th floor, the convention centre offers breathtaking views of landmarks such as Flinders Street Station, the MCG and the Yarra River.

We have a flexible approach to functions, and our experienced staff will tailor your event to your requirements.

Convention centre features

The City Convention Centre is a unique venue with four interconnecting function spaces as well as an intimate breakout room complete with a baby grand piano and southbank views.

We cater for:

Facilities for hire include:

  • five interconnecting function rooms with AV (audio visual) facilities and panoramic city views

  • business centre facilities including photocopying, fax, secretarial services, and complimentary wireless internet access throughout the venue.

Floor plan & seating

The convention centre caters for groups of four to 500, with up to 765m2 of space to use.

There is access to other floors of the Campus building to accommodate larger events as required. The City Flinders Campus is a versatile space with numerous auditoriums, meeting rooms and PC/Mac labs, as well as creative spaces ideal for cocktail parties and launch events.

The maximum capacity for a seated dinner is 220, using Rooms 1, 2 and 3.

The maximum capacity for a cocktail function is 500, using Rooms 1, 2, 3, 4 and the Foyer.

Room hire

The rates below are based on Monday to Friday bookings between 9am and 5pm. They allow 30 minutes for bump in and 30 minutes for bump out.

Additional charges apply for extending beyond time booked at $100 per hour.

Audio visual facilities

The new digital AV system installed in our prime rooms includes:

  • drop-down screen with 16:9 ratio
  • ceiling-mounted data projector
  • audio and video
  • PC with broadband
  • lectern mic and three radio mics (hand-held or lapel)

Each element can be operated from a touch panel on the lectern.

The new AV system is available in:

  • Room 1 (with capacity to link to Room 2 via audio speakers and ceiling monitors)
  • Room 3 (with capacity to link to Room 4 via audio speakers and ceiling monitors)

Our Lectern AV package includes our fully digital AV system, featuring drop-down screen with 16:9 ratio, ceiling-mounted data projector, audio, video, PC, broadband, lectern mic and radio mics all operated from a touch panel on the lectern.

Location, parking & deliveries

Secure Parking, next to the VU City Flinders Campus, is open 7 days a week. Visit the Secure Parking website for details.

Prepaid tickets are available on application from your event coordinator.

A shared delivery dock is available by prior arrangement via Flinders Court.

Please note: we do not have a goods elevator. Any deliveries requiring assistance by our staff will incur additional charges.
