Navneet is a Teaching Focused Academic with the First Year College. She takes pride in her nursing career which became the strong foundation for her teaching.
Navneet started her career as a registered nurse in 2009 and progressed into a career during her first year of nursing as Nurse Mentor. She has experience as both a nurse educator and urology nurse consultant in a clinical setting.
Navneet progressed into a teaching career and joined Victoria University in 2018. Navneet loves the idea of Block Model and views it as great scaffolding both horizontally and vertically in the First Year College.
Navneet believes ‘Education is not preparation of life; Education is life itself’ (John Dewey). She has always exhibited passion for teaching and feels it is her moral obligation to role model her philosophy. Her teaching philosophy is to promote evidence-based, lifelong learning in her students and ensures students stay updated with latest advancements in the field of nursing. To support her philosophy, Navneet participates in learning and teaching opportunities to enhance her current knowledge. Her open communication, collaboration with peers and students and transparency in teaching contributes to the environment of mutual trust supporting the learning outcomes. Navneet supports learner-centred teaching and encourages students to reflect on their learning experience by stimulating critical and reflective thinking. She engages in reflective practice and creates learning experiences and incorporates changes in teaching practice to benefit the students.
