Kym Bakaric returned to Victoria University in 2018 as Director, bringing external knowledge and skills gained from industry to the University. She is now Acting Vice-President, People & Culture.
Since her return, Kym has been integral in enabling the University to deliver its people strategies, refreshed values, and foundational frameworks to elevate engagement, enhance capability and reimagine the way we work.
Kym leads a team of passionate and committed professionals responsible for the delivery of strategic and operational human resources functions.
Prior to returning, Kym worked in leadership positions at Toyota in strategy and change management during Toyota’s major transformation to a sales and distribution company. This included the closure of manufacturing, relocation of functions from Sydney to Melbourne, redesign of the organisational structure and systems, capability uplift program, and transitioning to new ways of working in open plan spaces.
Kym is passionate about developing people and enabling change, which led to Victoria University becoming an employer of choice for the first time, and winner of 2 Awards in recognition of enterprise change from AHEIA / Voice Project.
