Welcome to the VU Women Get Active Program, a free initiative for all female Victoria University students with four weekly classes offered online in October.

The female-only program is funded by the Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF) and facilitated by VU Sport university-trained staff. It provides an opportunity for students to participate in physical activity in a fun, social and supportive group environment.

About the program

The four-week virtual program starts Monday 5 October with weekly sessions 1-2pm and includes a mini workshop component (20 minutes) followed by a physical activity component (40 minutes).

It is suited to anyone who wants to be more active, start good exercise habits, and get back into exercise after taking a break, or who is just finding it difficult to create consistency with an exercise routine.

The fitness activity will be determined based on participant interests provided in the registration process; however, they may include:

  • circuit style workouts
  • yoga
  • HIIT sessions
  • dance fitness
  • boxing
  • walking/jogging groups.

During the mini workshops at the start of each session we will explore the following topics to help set you up for success:

  • benefits of physical activity
  • identifying barriers and way to overcome them
  • what’s your motivation?
  • goal setting and sustainability.

Due to COVID-19 the 4-week program will be delivered via zoom sessions and you will also receive a free at-home exercise program as well as healthy-eating tips developed by VU Sport fitness staff.

In addition, when VU Fitness Centres re-open you will receive a complimentary six-week membership at any of our fitness centres to help you continue your healthy, active lifestyle.
