Session 1: 9:30AM - 11:30AM
Session 2: 11:00AM - 1:30PM
Session 3: 1:00PM - 3:30PM
Since 2022, VU has planted 17,500 trees at Werribee Campus as part of the Victorian Government’s More Trees for a Cooler, Greener West program, helping reduce heat, improve air quality and support community wellbeing.

This initiative is funded and supported by the Victorian Government’s More Trees for a Cooler, Greener West program which aims to plant 500,000 trees to increase tree canopy coverage in Melbourne's western suburbs.
Join Us at VU Werribee Campus
Enter through Gate 2 off Hoppers Lane and continue along the road to the event location. Look out for event signage and friendly staff who will help guide you along the way.
Please arrive at least 15 minutes before your session start time to allow time for check-in and a short safety briefing.
What should I wear?
Please wear warm, weather-appropriate clothing that you don't mind getting dirty. We recommend bringing a waterproof jacket in case of rain.
Sturdy, closed-toe shoes are required as the terrain may be uneven or muddy.
What should I bring?
We recommend bringing:
- A reusable water bottle
- Gardening gloves (if you have them)
- Sunscreen
- A change of shoes or clothing if rain is forecast
A limited number of gardening gloves will be available to borrow on the day.
Getting There
Where do I go when I arrive?
Please enter via Gate 2 at Victoria University's Werribee Campus and follow event signage to the registration area.
Is parking available?
Yes, free parking is available on campus. Spaces are limited, so we encourage participants to carpool where possible.
Is public transport available?
The planting site is approximately a 15-minute walk from Hoppers Crossing Station.
The 498 bus route also services Hoppers Lane near the campus.
On the Day
What happens during my session?
After checking in, you'll receive a short safety and planting briefing before joining your planting session. You'll also have opportunities to take breaks, enjoy a hot drink and access campus facilities.
Are food and drinks available?
Yes. Complimentary catering will be provided throughout the day, including sandwiches, wraps, fresh fruit, coffee, tea, chai and hot chocolate. Gourmet donuts will also be available.
We cater for a range of dietary requirements, including halal, vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, dairy-free, egg-free, nut-free, wheat-free and plant-based options. Please indicate any dietary requirements when registering.
Are there toilets onsite?
Yes, toilets are available on campus approximately five minutes' walk from the planting area.
Will there be first aid available?
Yes, a qualified first aid officer will be present throughout the event.
Is there somewhere to store my belongings?
Limited storage will be available for backpacks and personal belongings. As space is limited, please only bring essential items.
Weather & Accessibility
What happens if it rains?
The event will proceed in most weather conditions. Please come prepared for outdoor conditions, including wet weather.
Shelter is available on campus if required and activities may be modified if conditions become unsafe.
Is the event accessible?
Please note that the planting area includes rough and uneven terrain.
