International Postgraduate Research Scholarships
The International Postgraduate Research Scholarship (IPRS) scheme is funded by the Australian Government and organised through the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR). The purpose of the International Postgraduate Research Scholarships is to support high quality overseas postgraduate students to areas of research strength in higher education institutions in Australia.

Are you eligible?
Victoria University’s International Postgraduate Research Scholarships are open to international students applying for a Higher Degree by Research course. These scholarships are typically targeted to building research activity and capacity in Victoria University’s areas of research strength. You’ll be considered only if your projects and academic backgrounds are strongly aligned to the University’s research strength areas.
How to apply
Applicants for the International Postgraduate Research Scholarships (IPRS) must submit two applications as per the below.
- Applicants must first submit a Scholarship application to the Admissions and Scholarships Coordinator in the Office of Postgraduate Research.
- Applicants must then apply through the Victoria University International online application system. Please make sure that you identify yourself as an International Postgraduate Research Scholarship (IPRS) applicant on this application form.
Key dates for scholarship applications
The main VU scholarship round for Australian and international applicants opens in August and closes at the end of October each year.
Please note that the deadline for semester 1 applications for 2013 has now passed. The mid-year scholarship round will open in April and close in May for mid-year 2013 entry. You will be notified by the Office for Postgraduate Research as to whether you have been successful in being awarded a scholarship.
