Research experts

Research is undertaken by academic staff members, research students and the faculty's Research Centres:

Financial Education Research Unit

Accounting Education research within the School of Accounting and Finance is undertaken by the Financial Education and Research Unit (FERU). This research unit has operated since 2009 under the Directorship of Professor Beverley Jackling. The Unit has secured international and nationally competitive research grants, engaged in prestigious international conferences, and produced an extensive list of high quality publications in leading academic journals.

FERU conducts research that informs VU and the wider academic community on good educational practices in accounting and finance. The unit also:

  • provides development and research opportunities for staff and students
  • contributes to scholarship, policy development and practice
  • develops links with partners across Australia and internationally, including VU partner institutions
  • obtains external funding to support research
  • analyses and disseminates information on student engagement in accounting and finance to support innovation at VU
  • contributes to building leading practice in vocational and higher education

Research Facilitation Unit

The Research Facilitation Unit (RFU) works to improve the research performance and quality of our staff and research centres.

Our primary activities include assisting Faculty research active staff to develop a program of research including quality publications, identifying and supporting research teams, and brokering competitive national grants and alternative funding sources. We also liaise with VU’s Office for Research, Faculty-hosted research centres, the Heads of Centres and Institutes and other VU research entities.
