The School of Health Sciences offers courses in Paramedic Sciences from certificate to degree level, including a conversion degree for health practitioners wishing to upgrade their qualifications. These courses allow paramedics and other health professionals to major in pre-hospital paramedicine studies.
Paramedic Sciences at Victoria University has become increasingly popular, particularly with its industry focus and flexible delivery modes. Programs are available on-campus and via our Internet Classroom.
Courses are fully accredited and designed in conjunction with members of the paramedic profession and industry organisations such as the Ambulance Service Victoria, Ambulance Employees of Australia and the Institute of Ambulance Officers (Australia).
Clinical placement is an important component in the training of the paramedic student. Students are progressively introduced to the professional responsibilities and 'on road' experiences of the ambulance paramedic. Students have first hand opportunities to observe, consolidate and extend knowledge and skills essential for the clinical care of patients in a pre-hospital environment. All clinical placements are supervised by a clinical instructor.
