First four weeks
The first four weeks of uni life are a lot of fun, but it can sometimes be a bit daunting. These tips will help make your transition a little easier.

Week one
This is the time you'll start attending your first classes.
During this week, it's a good idea to:
- check your specific faculty web pages
- get to know other students in your class
- join a club or society
- keep up to date with the academic calendar
- buy your textbooks from the VU Bookshop
- check out our library
You can also contact your Faculty Transition and Retention Coordinator if you need someone to talk to about study options or settling into life at VU.

Week two
Once you are familiar with getting to class you can explore what else is on offer:
- learning support resources and services for current students
- campus events and campus life activities
You should also add your assessment deadlines and important university dates such as the census date to your diary.
Week three
This week you should be feeling more comfortable. We can help you adjust to your new life and find the right balance between study, work and play. Check out our student services:
- Student learning support
- Clubs and societies
- Counselling services
- Welfare services
- Student advisory services
Week four
By now you should be progressing with your studies and have a good idea whether you are happy with the subjects you have chosen.
If you would like to make some changes to your enrolment you must do so by the census date. This is the last chance to withdraw from subjects without financial penalty.
