Research degree graduate wins peak award

Jianhua Zhang won the Research Degree Graduate of the year and received the category peak award at the 2011 Vice-Chancellor’s Awards. Dr Zhang received the peak award based on:

• the quality of his thesis
• the number of published journal and conference papers 
• his engagement in research.

Dr Zhang completed his PhD with the Institute for Sustainability and Innovation (ISI) in just under 3 years. He published 7 papers on membrane distillation, focussing on the effect of membrane compressibility on performance. During his PhD he actively co-operated with CSIRO, Sunchon National University (Korea) and research staff in ISI.

Dr Zhang is now working with ISI on a NCEDA funded membrane distillation project to treat RO brines.
