About Alison Mitchell

Alison is the first woman to commentate regularly on the BBC's Test Match Special and has toured to every Test playing nation around the world. She is currently in Australia, where she has been covering major events such as the Australian Open tennis and the ICC Cricket World Cup.

In March 2014, Alison was voted Sports Broadcaster of the Year by the Sports Journalists' Association of Great Britain and has again been shortlisted for the award in 2015. She is a highly respected journalist, having covered Olympic and Commonwealth Games. Alison has also handled hard sports news such as the death of Bob Woolmer at the Cricket World Cup in 2007 when police launched a murder inquiry – a story Alison broke on air and had to cover single handedly as the only BBC reporter in Jamaica’s capital at the time.
