Creating a Welcome - Crafternoon and Workshop

This event has already taken place.

Saturday 14 May 2016

Join us for a free crafternoon hosted by VU at MetroWest in 2016!

Creating a Welcome is a loose-knit community of crafters, artists and other makers-of-things who have come together in support of those seeking asylum in Australia.

Craftivism, a term emerging near the beginning of this millennium and associated with Betsy Greer, is a concept connecting the act of creating something by hand with motives of political resistance and the endeavour to effect social change. You can find out more about craftivism at Anna Branford's website.

Bring your own project along to work with other craftivists. You can also attend the Bilum Weaving workshop at the same time (fees apply).
