Enrolment confirmation

We will provide you with an electronic Confirmation of Enrolment (eCoE) as proof that you have enrolled in a course. You need an eCoE before you can apply or renew your student visa.

Receiving your eCoE

Victoria University International will send you, your agent or your home institution an eCoE once we have received your signed Offer Acceptance form so long as:

  • this is your first application for a student visa
  • your application is classified as Assessment Level 1 or 2

If you are from an Assessment Level 3 or 4 category, you must provide a Pre-Visa Assessment (PVA) letter before Victoria University International can issue you an eCoE.

You can confirm your Assessment Level with Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC).

Submit your eCoE with your student visa application to DIAC or the Australian Embassy in the country you are applying from.

Completing your course

Once you have successfully completed your course please advise the compliance team at Victoria University International.  The team will then cancel your eCoE.

You should also contact DIAC on 131 881 to change your visa status.

Visa alert

Except in extremely limited circumstances, it will not be possible for you to remain in Australia beyond your visa expiry/validity date. If you fail to abide by these conditions your visa may be cancelled.

Extending your studies

Victoria University can only extend the duration of your studies in limited circumstances, as required by the National Code 2007. You need to apply to extend your eCoE to extend your studies. Your application must satisfy one of the following circumstances to be considered:

  • Compassionate or compelling circumstances - these will be assessed on a case-by-case basis, but some examples include serious injury or illness where you provide a medical certificate, pregnancy or childbirth, bereavement of close family member(s), a traumatic experience (for e.g. witnessing a serious accident, witnessing or being the victim of a serious crime), changes to the course structure or subject unavailability. Financial difficulties or homesickness would usually not be considered compassionate or compelling circumstances, unless you have experienced associated difficulties with physical or mental health.
  • Evidence of an implemented intervention strategy (e.g. study plan) if you have been identified as at risk of not meeting satisfactory course progress
  • Approved Leave of Absence or suspension of study

Submit your request for an eCoE for enrolled students form, at least six weeks before your visa is due to expire, to the compliance team at Victoria University International
