The English Language Institute (ELI) is located in the heart of Melbourne and is part of Victoria University (VU). At ELI you can improve your general English, prepare for study at an Australian TAFE or university or take part in a customised group study tour.

Our English language courses include social and cultural activities so you can discover Melbourne's attractions and surrounds while practising your English.

 Our services and facilities

If you study an ELI course you will be enrolled as a student of Victoria University. This means you have access to great facilities, excellent teachers and a wide range of resources and services.

Our services include:

• an orientation program for new students
• help with finding accommodation
• counselling for international students
• assistance with progressing onto further study at Victoria University
• English language testing for international students both on and off shore

 Our facilities include:

• a language and computer laboratory where you can access emails, the Internet and multimedia learning materials
• a Self-Access centre where you can relax, read the newspapers and talk with your fellow students
• comfortable carpeted, heated and cooled classrooms
• a student lounge a campus library and bookshop
