Communication and the Arts
The School of Communication and the Arts prepares students for a global future. Students develop skills in critical thinking, problem solving, and researching and expressing ideas and information. They are also encouraged to develop a range of complementary skills - including creative thinking and practice, teamwork skills, digital and visual literacies, and cultural and ethical awareness.

International opportunities for study
Opportunities for international student exchange and other overseas study experiences are available to students undertaking courses at Victoria University.
The international outlook of the school is also strongly reflected in the emphasis placed on language acquisition and development both in English and other languages.
We also partner with institutions overseas such as Northwest University in Xi'an, China.
Students experience industry and community
Our students benefit from a range of learning opportunities in the workplace and in the community.
We have a Professional Placement Program for our students enrolled in their final year of a Public Relations, Professional Writing or Digital Media degree. Students have a professional placement for 15 days with a qualified supervisor from within industry, to enable them to gain some industry experience.
Students also undertake professional projects in conjunction with industry and community organisations. They use the skills and knowledge they gain throughout their degree and apply it to real-life scenarios.
Some recent projects included our Public Relations students developing a marketing campaign for the Visy Cares Hub. Our Advanced Media Production students wrote and produced a short DVD on safety in conjunction with Victoria Police.
Projects are supervised by Victoria University staff with specialist expertise in the range of project areas available.
If you have identified a project that you believe Victoria University could assist you with, please contact the School's Partnerships Coordinator, Joyce McKenzie on Tel: +(61) 03 9919 2234 or via email joyce.mckenzie@vu.edu.au
