Workforce Development Services provide consultancy services to businesses and enterprises. These include the full range of Human Resource Development products and services. The team manages the University's skills recognition services including two Skills Stores.

Skilling Business

Skilling Business provides a free service for small-medium enterprises under the Victorian Government’s Skills for Growth Program. We provide a number of benefits for businesses and staff. Our dedicated team of industry specialists work with you to skill your workforce.

Skilling Business is a consortium between Victoria University and Australian Industry Group.

Industry Connect

Industry Connect provides a gateway for employers seeking technical and professional development to up-skill and re-skill their workforce.

Short courses are also available for your individual, professional, specialist or personal interests that provide pathways into and transitions within industry.

VU’s extensive range of industry based education, training and assessment services provide industry-relevant skill sets, competencies, compliance and licensing training and assessments, as well as customised professional development workshops and programs that focus on your specific needs.

Our services can be presented at our state-of-art training facilities across Melbourne, or in-company at your workplace.

Victoria University operates two Skills Stores. Skills Stores  are a Victorian Government service that make Victoria's vocational education and training (VET) system more accessible and easier to understand.

Skills Assessment for Visa 457

VU has been approved by the Australian Government, through Trades Recognition Australia, to conduct formal skills assessments for the Temporary Worker Visa 457.

A skills assessment is just one part of the entire 457 visa application. Find out how to apply and make sure you understand all the current requirements.

NEIS at VU

The New Enterprise Incentive Scheme (NEIS) is an Australian Government initiative that helps eligible unemployed people to establish their own new viable business.

The Victoria University NEIS program, delivered by School of Enterprise, incorporates:

During training successful applicants will gain valuable skills and knowledge in business planning, market research, and financial planning. Upon completion of training and approval of a business plan participants could be eligible for NEIS assistance which may include:

  • Business advice and mentoring support during the first year of your business operation
  • NEIS Allowance for up to 52 weeks, and if eligible
  • NEIS Rental Assistance for up to 26 weeks, if eligible.

Information sessions are held at Footscray Nicholson and City King campuses. Training is held at Sunshine, Werribee, St Albans and Footscray Nicholson Campuses.
