Year 10 students

Year 9 and 10 is the perfect time to start planning your future. This is when you get to make big decisions about your VCE subjects. We can help you determine what subjects you need to study in Years 11 and 12 to get into the course you want at VU.

Choosing a course

Many courses, including apprenticeships and traineeships, require you to study certain Yr 11 and 12 subjects as a prerequisite. Our course database gives you a complete list of subjects, admission requirements and course length.

Helpful tips for choosing a course

With so many options, choosing a course and a career direction can be tough, yet excitingcision. Pinpointing your interests can make it easier to choose a course. To get started write down:

  • the subjects and activities you like at school
  • activities you like doing outside of school hours
  • things you are good at

Then download the Year 10 Guide for tips on how to decide what you want to do and how to get into different courses.

The Job Guide website provides an in-depth look at a range of occupations and their education and training pathways.

Once you know what you want to do, search for a course at VU and start the journey to your dream job.
