Benefits of extension studies
There are many great reasons to study a university subject while completing your VCE, but some of the main ones are that you'll:
- get a taste of uni life before you start your full-time course
- receive a bonus of 3.0 to 5.0 points on your ATAR
- gain credit for future uni studies, so if you enrol in the course at uni level you should be able to study the second year subject
- have full access to all Victoria University's support services and facilities
Eligibility
If you're a high achieving VCE student you may be able to enrol in the extension studies program.
Your school will recommend you on the basis that you've shown outstanding achievement in your studies, and a VCE study score of 40 or more in a related subject.
In cases where you haven't completed the related unit 3 and 4 subjects, you can be selected based on your year 11 performance. In order to do this you must:
- be recommended as an overall excellent student
- have demonstrated exceptional achievement in at least units 1 and 2 of the related VCE subjects
- be found likely to achieve a VCE study score of 41 in the related units 3 and 4
- complete the related unit 3 and 4 subjects concurrently with the university subject.
