Get a head start

VETiS Animal Studies
Vocational Education and Training in Schools (VETiS) lets you get a TAFE qualification while still at school. What you get is hands-on industry experience that future employers rate highly.
Studying a VET program allows students in years 10, 11 and 12 get a head start on their education and career path and gain credit towards VCE and VCAL.
- Gain industry experience
- Create a pathway to further study
- Improve your chances of finding a job when you finish school.
VET programs are generally completed over 1 or 2 years and provide a qualification or partial completion of a Certificate I, II or III. The courses often include on-the-job learning and use of simulated environments. VET programs contribute to the VCE or VCAL and most contribute towards a study score that counts towards your Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR).

Australian School-based Apprenticeships

VETiS Carpentry
Have you thought of this alternative option? Secondary school students in part-time employment may be able to start an Australian School-based Apprenticeship (ASbA) and complete VCE or VCAL. Combine and successfully complete practical experience in the work place, structured TAFE training and school studies to receive credits towards VCAL or VCE and a national qualification at Certificate II, III or IV.
For general information on the VCE, VCE VET and Australian School-Based Apprenticeships, go to the Victorian Curriculum Assessment Authority.
