Various aspects of the course, combined with integrated learning in the workplace, helped prepare me for developing and managing my own business. Business subjects such as accounting and economics assisted in the 'behind the scenes' aspects of setting up and running a restaurant. The marketing subjects gave me an insight into some techniques and most importantly the huge impact marketing can have on a business.
The key for me was a good education tied in with plenty of practical experience in the industry and finding the best way to integrate the two to grow in knowledge and experience. At only 23 now I’m pretty happy with my progress and definitely attribute it to building my industry knowledge through experience in the hospitality industry and the tools Victoria University gave me.
