Indigenous careers strategy

VU has developed Yannoneit, an Indigenous Employment and Career Development Strategy as part of our ongoing commitment to equality and diversity. Yannoneit Employment Strategy (YES) encourages the recruitment and career development of Indigenous Australians by providing opportunities to gain professional qualifications, work skills and experience in a wide range of jobs at VU.

The aim of YES is to:

  • increase the number of Indigenous employees at VU
  • accelerate the employment and development of Indigenous Australians across the full spectrum of positions at VU
  • establish VU as a supportive, culturally sensitive and significant employer of Indigenous Australians

We provide career opportunities for Indigenous Australians on a part-time, full-time, fixed term contract, sessional and casual basis.  We provide training and can help you gain formal accreditation for learning that occurs on-the-job so you don't always need formal qualifications.

We also have an Indigenous leave policy that allows Indigenous Australians to take leave to meet family, ceremonial and cultural obligations, and stay connected to your community.

The Indigenous Employment Coordinator can give you more information or help you with an application.
