Represent VU in sport

All Victoria University (VU) students are eligible to represent the University in regional, national and international competitions including the Australian University Games. Or you can volunteer your services in a variety of areas including sports administration, managing, coach and refereeing.

Representative sport

University Games

Students can represent VU in their sport at regional and national championships held during the mid semester breaks. It is a great opportunity to represent your university at a large scale multi sport event and meet people across VU and from all over Australia.

Australian University Games

The Australian University Games will be held in Adelaide from 23 - 28 September 2012. With over 40 universities around Australia participating in 29 sports this event is a great week of sport and fun.

Sports include: Athletics, Australian Rules Football,  Badminton, Baseball, Basketball, Beach Volleyball, Cycling, Fencing, Golf, Handball, Hockey, Judo, Kendo, Lawn Bowls, Netball, Rugby Union 7’s, Football, Sailing, Softball, Squash, Swimming, Surfing, Table tennis, Taekwondo, Tennis, Ten Pin Bowling, Touch, Ultimate Frisbee, Volleyball and Water polo.

Southern University Games

Victoria University was one of the best performed across many sports bringing home six gold medals and three bronze. The games attracts over 1250 students from Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania competing in 15 events.

The Southern University Games (SUG) will be held in La Trobe Valley, Victoria from 2 - 6 July 2012. We would like to encourage all students to represent VU  in your sport and be part of the action at the SUG.  Trials will be taking place in March for a number of sports, so come along and give it a go!

Australian University Championships - Snow Sports

The Australian University Snow Sports Championship will be held from 2 - 6 September in Mount Buller. The event attracts the countries best skiers and snowboarders to compete against over 300 students in five days of competition

World University Games and Championships

Students selected to compete at World University Games and Championships receive support from the University and are nominated to receive VU sport awards. Team selection is organised by the national sport organisation for that particular sport so visit the Australian University sport calendar for full details.

Each year we rely on enthusiastic, organised and dedicated volunteers to get involved in our many sports program. 

One opportunity is serving as a Sport Manager for the Representative sport (Uni games) Program. Sport Team Managers provide a vital link between athletes and the Sport Service Unit and are recognised under the Student Leadership Framework. It is a great opportunity to gain direct skills and experience in sports administration, and a chance to display your leadership abilities.

Wanted - Sport Team Managers for 2012

VU Sport is currently seeking expression of interest from students to become Sport Team Manages and Sport Contacts to assist in getting teams and squad organise to compete at the 2012 Southern (SUG) and Australian Games (AUG) in various sports.
