Group classes and personal training

The following classes are available at the Footscray Park Aquatic and Fitness Centre. 

If you are a member, the classes are included in your membership. If you do not have a membership, you can still participate by purchasing a casual entry.

Spinning

Spinning is an indoor group exercise class on stationary bikes. The bikes are arranged so that every participant can see the instructor. The class runs for approximately 45 minutes. The instructor leads the class through a range of different styles of bike riding, such as sprints, hills and adding or easing resistance.

Changing the resistance levels will simulate an actual bike riding terrain. As participants control their own resistance level this class is suitable for all fitness levels.

This class is ideal for weight loss, fitness, speed and endurance.

Total tone

Total tone is an aerobic-style class performed to music. Total tone incorporates a combination of traditional aerobic moves, hand weights and other aids like balls and steps to create a dynamic class. This is a high energy class that is suitable for all abilities.

This class is ideal for improving fitness and muscle tone.

Deep water aqua

Deep water aqua (DWA) is an aerobic style class held in deep water with the assistance of buoyancy belts. It incorporates a variety of body movements including water running, treading water and the use of aids for muscle stimulating exercises.

It is a non-weight bearing class that exercises every muscle and joint in the body. DWA is ideal for improving cardiovascular conditioning, muscular strength, muscle endurance and flexibility. DWA is a fantastic class for people affected by medical conditions such as arthritis, neck and back problems, strokes and obesity.

Zumba

Zumba is the latest addition to Group exercises.  Zumba is a combination of dance steps and Latin rhythms to easy to follow routines. This invigorating dance class will get you movin' and groovin' to rhythms of salsa, cumbia, samba, merengue and more.

Work your body from head to toe with Zumba's exhilarating workouts. You'll learn all the basics, hitting your core, thighs and abdominals just to name a few. Come and join the fun.

Body balance

Body balance is a fitness to music style class which combines the likes yoga and tai chi with popular new classes such as Pilates. It focuses on controlled breathing, concentration with stretches, moves and poses that help relax and balance the body while working on flexibility and strength.

This class is ideal for people of all fitness levels. Every 3 months this program is reviewed and updated with new choreography and music.

Circuit

Circuit is a highly effective full body workout. This 45 minutes dynamic class alternates cardiovascular with muscular endurance stations. A great lunchtime workout. Set you own pace, minimal coordination required and is suitable for all fitness levels and ages. 

Boxfit

Boxfit is a boxing based class which incorporates a cardio-vascular workout, combined with strength and conditioning and teaches traditional boxing skills. The class is suitable for all fitness levels. The class runs for 45 minutes.

Group exercise classes guidelines

Classes are scheduled and conducted subject to the following terms and conditions:

  • All classes scheduled are dependent upon adequate class numbers. If numbers are consistently low for a class then there is the potential for that class to be withdrawn from the timetable after the first 6 week trial period of the new timetable.
  • Class duration is between 45mins and 55mins depending upon the class.
  • Please do not be late for classes as a warm up reduces the likelihood of injury.
  • Inform the instructor if it is your first class or if you have any injuries.
  • Group Exercise receipts will be handed out 1 hour before commencement of class, not before (one receipt per person only).
  • Participants must collect a Group Exercise receipt from reception and hand on to the instructor before commencement of class. 
  • Participants must bring a towel and water bottle to every class.
  • Correct sporting attire must be worn to class. (Jeans/corporate attire are not acceptable).
  • The user must wipe down equipment after class. Disinfectant to be supplied by centre.

Personal training       

While some people believe that being healthy involves endless sweat sessions and get-skinny-quick super diets, we have a 'New Vision'.  New Vision Health Management specialises in the delivery of exercise, lifestyle and behavioural modification programs. We take a holistic approach to health management.

We offer individual and group training session where you will be teamed up with a qualified and experienced Personal Trainer.
