You should read the frequently asked questions before you apply to live at Sunbury Hall.

Q.  Who can apply?

You need to be a VU student, or have been offered a place in a course at VU to apply to live in the Sunbury Hall. Accommodation is also available to students from other universities where a vacancy exists. 

Q.  How can I apply for accommodation at Sunbury Hall?

Complete an application form online or download a copy and pay the application fee. You must attach confirmation of your enrolment, two confidential reference forms and two passport size photos to your application.

Q. I have sent in my application, what happens next?

You will be notified once your application has been received and processed.

Q. Terms and Conditions

Sunbury Hall has rules and regulations that all residents must follow. Make sure you understand your obligations and ensure you comply with all the terms and conditions that apply to Sunbury Hall. 

Q.  Fees - How much does it cost?

The fees at Sunbury Hall vary depending on the unit or room in which you live.  Fees are set out in the schedule of fees and are paid monthly. The acceptance payment includes fees, a Student Club Levy, an Academic Development Levy and a Damages Default deposit.

Q. What additional expenses will I have to pay?

The fees at Sunbury Hall include cost of gas, water and electricity utilities.  Additional costs can include Internet and telephone costs, transport fares, course materials, entertainment, medical and other personal expenses.

Q. What method of payment can I use?

Payments can be made with credit card, EFTPOS cheque or cash. 

Q. What sort of accommodation is available?

Sunbury Hall offers two types of accommodation. Single rooms with ensuite facilities, or single rooms without ensuites that have access to communal bathroom facilities.  Each room is furnished with a single bed, desk and study chair, bookcase and wardrobe.

Q. What do I need to bring when I move in?

You will need to bring your computer, cooking utilities, crockery and your own linen (bed sheets, doona, blankets, pillows, towels etc), clothes and toiletries.     

You may also choose to bring other personal items such as an alarm clock, Television, CD player, books and photos.

Some residents chose to bring their own refrigerator however you are only permitted to keep a small bar refrigerator (140 litre) in your room.

Q. How will I get to my university from Sunbury Hall?

Sunbury Hall is situated on the Sunbury campus. If you are studying at Sunbury you can simply walk across campus to classes.

There is bus available on campus that can take you to the Sunbury train and bus station for travel to Melton, St Albans and city campuses.

Q. I am an International student, is there an Airport pickup?

Sunbury Hall does not offer an Airport pick up service.  This service may be organised through the Victoria University International Student Services. Please contact them directly.

Q.  What shops are nearby?

You can catch a bus to Sunbury Central from campus or take a 10 minute walk to variety of shops, including supermarkets, chemist, clothing stores and a Post Office.  There are also restaurants, cafes, medical and community services located in Sunbury. 

Q.  How do I organise my meals?

There are supermarkets and a market nearby to do your shopping.  There are communal kitchens in the residence where you can do your own cooking.  The Residence Life Team will organise communal meals from time to time.
