Great VU facilities, great Jets team

We provide the Jets with access to our state-of-the-art facilities including an aquatic centre, gymnasium and indoor training facilities, allowing the Jets to operate as a professional organisation. In return the Jets celebrate the VU relationship by giving us access to the TAC Cup's state-wide advertising through the TAC Cup record as well as assisting with several major VU events including Open Day.

Ben Norton, recipient of the Nathan Prince Victoria University Scholarship

Congratulations to Ben Norton on being the inaugural recipient of the Nathan Prince Victoria University Scholarship. The scholarship will be awarded annually to a player who has shown promise both on and off the field and has shown a keen interest in pursuing further education after high school.

The scholarship is in memory of Western Jet player Nathan Prince who died after a post-game cardiac arrest last year.

Ben was awarded the scholarship after choosing Victoria University as his first preference to study a Bachelor of Physical Education. Ben had a fantastic end to the 2011 season however was unfortunate in needing a knee reconstruction during the finals. Ben has shown he is committed to his studies and would like to pursue work as a PE teacher when he finishes his degree.

The Nathan Prince Victoria University Scholarship will award Ben $1,000 to go towards his education at Victoria University.

Success stories

The Jets had an excellent year in 2008 with Mitchell Banner (Essendon Keilor College, a VU partner school) drafted to Port Adelaide Football Club. Bryce Carroll also attended Essendon Keilor College and is now a rookie with the Essendon Football Club and Jayden Post, a first year VU student studying sports administration, was also drafted to the Richmond Football Club.

We are excited about the coming season when the Jets boast three AFL/AIS national scholarship holders, Jack Fitzpatrick, Kyle Hartigan and Trent McKenzie.
