Health and travel insurance
Overseas Travel Insurance Cover is compulsory; to be covered you must complete the Travel Insurance Application Form and submit a copy of your flight itinerary. Some host institutions will require you to take out their own health insurance as well.
To arrange for Overseas Travel Insurance you can do either of the following:
- request cover under the Victoria University Overseas Travel Insurance Policy which is free and is valid for up to 180 days subject to certain conditions. The period of cover can be extended to a maximum of 12 months in total subject to certain conditions. This policy covers limited private (ie. non-study related) travel only. Students can purchase additional travel insurance for their private travel through any provider. ACE Insurance Limited (ACE), VU’s insurance provider, provides an on‐line facility for Victoria University students to apply and pay for private overseas travel insurance. The policy product is titled "In A Suitcase".
- arrange your own insurance and provide Victoria Abroad with a copy of the full policy wording.
Subject to the policy terms and conditions travel insurance covers a range of items such as:
- Personal Accident and Sickness Cover
- Medical and Additional Expenses
- Cancellation and Baggage/Business Property
- Electronic Equipment
- Deprivation of Baggage
- Money/Travel Documents
All travellers requesting cover under the Victoria University Overseas Travel Insurance Policy should read and familiarise themselves with the Travel Insurance Policy which is subject to certain terms and conditions including limits and exclusions.
Detailed information on insurance, including conditions, length of cover, extending cover, and purchasing additional cover, will be emailed to students once they have been accepted by their host university/ provider.
