Careers

You may gain ESSA (Exercise and Sports Science Australia) accreditation and follow a career as:

  • exercise physiologist in health or exercise industry
  • sport exercise physiologist
  • cardiorespiratory exercise rehabilitation
  • musculoskeletal exercise rehabilitation

Graduates of the Graduate Diploma in Clinical Exercise Practice may gain ESSA (Exercise and Sports Science Australia) accreditation.

Course Objectives

This course aims to:

  • build on the skills, attributes, and knowledge developed in the new Undergraduate Clinical Exercise Practice course;
  • to provide the final year of a new 3 + 1 Program that will lead to the most direct pathway to accreditation as an ESSA Accredited Exercise Physiologist and a career as a clinical exercise practitioner;
  • to prepare those students who do not wish to practise clinical exercise to either practise exercise science with apparently healthy clientele or continue with further study in the exercise sciences;
  • to prepare students for further postgraduate studies in the clinical exercise sciences, if desired.

Units and electives

Plus two of the following units:

Students must complete 8 units of study

What's a unit?

A unit or 'subject' is the actual class you'll attend in the process of completing a course.

Most courses have a mixture of compulsory 'core' units that you need to take, and optional 'elective' units that you can choose to take based on your area of interest, expertise or experience.

Credits

Each unit is worth a set amount of study credits based on the amount of time you study. Generally, 1 credit is equal to 1 hour of study per week.

Admission Information

  • The course is available to those who have completed an undergraduate degree in Clinical and/or Exercise Science, and/or qualify for Exercise Science accreditation with Exercise and Sports Science Australia (ESSA).
