Course Objectives
This qualification provides training at Diploma level for individuals wanting to acquire the skills and knowledge to be competent in a broad range of managerial skills in tourism operations, marketing and product development, underpinned by a range of operational competencies chosen as electives. To achieve a Diploma of Tourism, 33 units must be completed: - all 13 core units plus - all 4 units in Specialisation Group A - Operations or - all 4 units in Specialisation Group B - Marketing - 16 elective units: - a minimum of 10 elective units must be selected from the general elective units listed in the qualification - remaining elective units may be selected from any endorsed Training Package - a maximum of 1 Languages other than English unit may be counted as an elective within this qualification. In all cases selection of electives must be guided by the job outcome sought, local industry requirements and the characteristics of this qualification.
What's a unit?
A unit or 'subject' is the actual class you'll attend in the process of completing a course.
Most courses have a mixture of compulsory 'core' units that you need to take, and optional 'elective' units that you can choose to take based on your area of interest, expertise or experience.
