Course Objectives

This qualification is the industry qualification for persons aiming to operate at a senior or managerial level and undertaking animal technology functions within a biomedical research or production environment. It is highly recommended that while undertaking this qualification, the learner should have access to an animal technology workplace through either paid employment or substantial periods of work placement or work experience blocks.

A total of twenty-three ( 23) units of competency must be achieved for successful completion of this qualification; f ifteen ( 15) core units, f ive ( 5) elective units from Group A and three (3) elective units from group B

What's a unit?

A unit or 'subject' is the actual class you'll attend in the process of completing a course.

Most courses have a mixture of compulsory 'core' units that you need to take, and optional 'elective' units that you can choose to take based on your area of interest, expertise or experience.

  • Year 12: Successful Completion of VCE or equivalent
  • International: NA
  • Mature: Relevant Industry Experience as assessed by the University; or After achieving ACM30110 Certificate III in Animal Studies; or After achieving ACM30210 Certificate III in Animal Technology
