Course Objectives

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who use well-developed skills and a broad knowledge base in a wide variety of contexts. They apply solutions to a defined range of unpredictable problems, and analyse and evaluate information from a variety of sources. They may provide leadership and guidance to others with some limited responsibility for the output of others. This qualification would suit an OHS officer in a full-time dedicated role who works under the supervision of an OHS Coordinator or OHS Manager.

Additional Elective Units

To be eligible for this qualification a total of 9 units must be achieved consisting of 6 units from Group A including:

BSBOHS408A Assist with compliance with OHS and other relevant laws

and at least one of:

BSBOHS405B Contribute to the implementation of emergency procedures

OR

BSBOHS406C Use equipment to conduct workplace monitoring

The remaining 2 electives may be selected from Group A or Group B or as approved by the Head of School from any currently endorsed training Packages or accredited course at the same qualification level.

What's a unit?

A unit or 'subject' is the actual class you'll attend in the process of completing a course.

Most courses have a mixture of compulsory 'core' units that you need to take, and optional 'elective' units that you can choose to take based on your area of interest, expertise or experience.

  • Year 12: Successful completion of VCE or equivalent.
  • International: NA
  • Mature: Relevant industry experience.

  3. As part of the application you may need to complete extra requirements such as:
    • submit supplementary forms
    • attend an interview, audition, information session or workshop
    • submit a folio
    • sit a test

    You need to complete all extra requirements by the given dates, otherwise your application may not be considered.
