Course Objectives

This qualification prepares students for employment in residential facilities and community organisations in a range of sectors to assist with design and implementation of health and leisure programs.

Units and electives

Core Units

Elective Units

To achieve this qualification total of 16 units must be successfully completed including 11 core units and 5 elective units A wide range of elective units are available to address workplace requirements at this level or higher in the Community Services / Health Training Packages and other relevant national endorsed Training Packages approved by the School of Community Services.

A unit or 'subject' is the actual class you'll attend in the process of completing a course.

Most courses have a mixture of compulsory 'core' units that you need to take, and optional 'elective' units that you can choose to take based on your area of interest, expertise or experience.

  • Year 12: Sucessful completion of year 12 or equivalent
  • International: NA
  • Mature: Relevant industry experience as assessed by the University
  • Other: Applicants undertake an interview and written test.
