Course Objectives

This nationally recognised course provides participants with theoretical and practical skills and knowledge for entry-level work in accounting and other financial service sectors. The purpose of this qualification is to train students in assisting accountant roles and duties. As well as covering essential administrative skills in writing documents, administrating accounts, payroll and OH & S. The qualification reflects the job role of employees with functions that could include:

  • Filing, checking and processing financial data entry and processing accounts;
  • Producing GST reports;
  • Assisting in payroll processing;
  • Providing customer service in regard to financial transactions; and
  • Assisting in Bank reconciliations.

To successfully complete this course students must complete 11 units, 7 core plus 4 electives as per the training package rules.

A unit or 'subject' is the actual class you'll attend in the process of completing a course.

Most courses have a mixture of compulsory 'core' units that you need to take, and optional 'elective' units that you can choose to take based on your area of interest, expertise or experience.

Admission Information

  • TAFE: NA
  • Year 12: Successful completion of VCE or equivalent
  • International: IELTS 5.5 or equivalent
  • Mature: Relevant industry experience or as assessed by the Head of School as being capable of successfully completing the course. You may receive recognition of prior learning based on skills and knowledge acquired through previous study, as in articulation, informal or formal learning or from work and/or life experience.
