Professor Alison Morrison

Professor of Hospitality, Tourism and Events

Prior to taking on the role of Professor of Hospitality, Tourism and Events, Alison was the Head of School of International Business. Before joining VU in 2011, Alison was Professor at the School of Management, Surrey University. Prior to this she was Vice-Dean (Research) of the Strathclyde Business School at the University of Strathclyde. She was also Head of the Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management.

Alison has been publishing extensively and teaching since 1984. She specialises in small and entrepreneurial hospitality and tourism businesses. She has authored a wide range of journal papers and books related to entrepreneurship and has co-edited In Search of Hospitality and Hospitality a Social Lens.

She has taught entrepreneurship in hospitality and tourism at a variety of universities in Austria, the Netherlands, Finland, Switzerland, Lapland, Canada, Hong Kong, Iran and Mauritius.

Alison is highly regarded in her field. She has most recently worked with the United Arab Emirates, Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and was Visiting Professor at Otago University, Dunedin.
