The 8^th Asia-Oceania Symposium on Fire Science and Technology (AOSFST) was held at Rydges in Swanston Melbourne on 7-9 December 2010.  

Victoria University (VU) and the Centre for Environmental Safety and Risk Engineering (CESARE) proudly presented the event, under the auspices of the International Association for Fire Safety Science (IAFSS).   The local organising committee was headed by Professor Ian Thomas.

The Symposium is held every three years.  Holding the 8^th AOSFST in Melbourne at Victoria University was a fitting tribute to the significant contribution that members of the research group in the Centre for Environmental Safety and Risk Engineering (CESARE) have made to fire science.
