Director, Student Connections

Lyn Bayly has worked at four universities in her 37-plus year career in tertiary education. She joined VU in May 2006 as General Manager, Student Administration within the Pro-Vice Chancellor Students portfolio and was appointed Director, Student Connections in November 2007. In this role, Lyn contributes to the University's mission by promoting the positive workplace culture principles, and by promoting the Baldrige Quality Project which delivers best practice quality business and administrative processes in preparation for the implementation of the Callista Student Management System.

Lyn was recruited from Swinburne University of Technology where she had been Manager, Student Operations following four years as a General Manager in the School of Social and Behavioural Sciences. Prior to that, she worked at Australian Catholic University as Foundation Executive Officer for the Faculty of Education and in a variety of roles at the University of Melbourne and its incorporated institution, Melbourne State College.

She also took out time from her schedule to successfully complete a degree in Education studies as a mature-aged student, which she used in the 1990s to teach English and ESL at Methodist Ladies' College in Kew, Victoria for four years.

Lyn's focus is on ensuring that the Student Connections Department:

  • delivers quality service to students so that they have a positive VU experience when interacting with student administrative functions;
  • ensures the accuracy and integrity of data reported to State and Commonwealth Departments for funding purposes;
  • provide opportunities for its staff to be active and engaged contributors to the overall quality of the broader VU learning community in all that they do.
