Postgraduate Research Committee

The Postgraduate Research Committee support the ERB in its role of overseeing the quality of the University's postgraduate research, research training and supervision.

The Committee operates under a Terms of Reference.

Composition and membership

The Postgraduate Research Committee is composed of:

  • One Principal Officer nominated by the Education and Research Board and whose responsibilities include research or nominee
    Professor Warren Payne
  • One Director nominated by the Education and Research Board and whose responsibilities include postgraduate research or nominee
    Professor Helen Borland
  • The University Librarian or nominee
    Frances O'Neil
  • One person who is registered as Higher Degree Research Supervisor elected by each higher education Faculty (three in total)

    Dr Roberto Bergami - Faculty of Business and Law
    Vacant - Faculty of Health, Engineering and Science
  • One person elected by and from each higher education Faculty's Postgraduate Studies Committees (or equivalent) (three in total)
    Dr Nigel Stepto - Faculty of Arts, Education and Human Development
    Dr Colin Higgins - Faculty of Business and Law
    Dr Deb Kerr - Faculty of Health, Engineering and Science
  • One postgraduate research student elected by and from postgraduate research students

  • Three Associate Deans - Research
    Associate Professor Michele Grossman - Faculty of Arts, Education and Human Development
    Professor John Zeleznikow - Faculty of Business and Law
    Associate Professor Chris Perera - Faculty of Health, Engineering and Science
  • One person elected by and from the Education and Research Board who has experience as a principal supervisor
