ICEPA Research Area: Cultural Diversity - Diasporas

The following activities are currently being undertaken in the Diasporas section of the Cultural Diversity research area:

Australian Diasporas and Brain Gain
ICEPA has won a grant from the Australian Research Council to lead a three year study into comparative Diasporas.

Diaspora, Ethnic Communities and Media
Academics in the School of Communication, Culture and Languages, in conjunction with ICEPA, are engaged in projects that focus on diaspora and the uses and role of the media within ethnic communities.

Trade
It is increasingly recognised that Diasporas are an important factor in considering trade development between nations. The social networks of Diasporas with their homelands provides a fertile basis for trade relations.

European Diaspora Network (EDN)
The European Diaspora Network (EDN) is a cooperative initiative between the Contemporary European Studies Association of Australia, the National Europe Centre at the Australian National University and ICEPA at Victoria University, funded by the Jean Monnet Scheme of the European Union.

Links and Resources
ICEPA is collecting a range of links and resources, including references for journals and publications, related to Diaspora activities and projects.
