    Dean VU College

Susan Young is the Dean of VU College at Victoria University. Susan has a keen interest in the capacity building of individuals who are learning for work and life.  She was instrumental in the establishment of the Reframing the Future Project - a major initiative of the Australian Government which provided staff development and change management programs to assist in the implementation of the National Training System. A major component of the program involved the utilisation of the Community of Practice methodology. She co-authored a range of practical publications on this topic which have been widely used by practitioners within Australia and overseas.

Susan began her career in education in South Australia, training as a high school teacher before moving into the TAFE sector where she completed a Bachelor of Education in adult and further education. Her interest in action learning led to her being asked to develop a Graduate Certificate in Training - Action Learning which was implemented in organisations nationally. She completed a Graduate Certificate in Business Administration and is now completing a Masters of Education in Leadership and Management.

Susan is the inaugural Dean of VU College and is responsible for building and maintaining effective relationships within the University and externally with community and enterprises to provide a comprehensive range of educational programs and services. The VU College, unique in the Australian system, is designed to support student entry, transition, learning and workplace preparation.
