Louise King

Executive Director, Faculty of Workforce Development

Louise King is the Executive Director, Faculty of Workforce Development at Victoria University. Louise's role is to provide strategic leadership and direction for 300 staff and 14,335 students that comprise the Faculty. The Faculty includes 9 schools which provide high quality programs, products and services in Vocational Education. A key strategic objective of the Faculty is to provide workforce development services for enterprise and industry.

Louise King previously worked for the Hunter Institute of TAFE. The Hunter Institute is located in NSW and covers 4 regions with around 56,000 enrolments. Louise's most recent role at the Hunter Institute was Director of Educational Development and Innovation where she was responsible for the strategic direction of teaching and learning. The main focus of the role was transforming the Institute from a traditional classroom and 'lock step' educational delivery model to a more blended and flexible delivery model with a greater focus on enabling technologies and workforce development.

Prior to this position, Louise was Faculty Director Health and Community Services and Tourism and Hospitality, first with the New England Institute of TAFE and then with the Hunter Institute. Louise was responsible for the strategic and operational management of the vocational education programs.

During the mid-1990s, Louise was employed as a Lecturer, with the University of Western Sydney for over four years. One of her major roles was coordinating the Bachelor of Youth Work program, including the significant field education component. During this time Louise was involved in international delivery and curriculum development in South Africa and the Pacific.

Prior to working in the vocational and tertiary education sectors, Louise was employed in a range of youth, health and community services in the ACT and Western Sydney. Louise was well known in the youth sector during the 1980s and 1990s and was member of both state and national youth peak bodies.

Louise has qualifications in social welfare, adult education and management.
