Associate Professor Danny Ben-Moshe

Danny joined Victoria University in 2001 where he first directed the Social Diversity and Community Wellbeing Key Research Area which in 2005 evolved into the Institute for Community, Ethnicity and Policy Alternatives (ICEPA). Danny completed an undergraduate degree in law and politics at the School of Oriental and African Studies at the University of London where he majored in Middle Eastern politics, and he was awarded a PhD from the University of Melbourne on the subject of racism and anti-Semitism.
Danny has published widely on issues of racism, identity and diasporas. He is the co-editor of the book 'Israel, the Diaspora and Identity' (Sussex Academic Press, 2007). In 2008 Danny was awarded an Australian Research Council Linkage grant for a three year study on comparative diasporas.
As ICEPA director Danny has been the chief investigator into a number of studies on refugee settlement in Australia, and has convened conferences on racism and refugee settlement.
Danny has worked in the community sector as the director of the Australian anti-racism NGO the B'nai B'rith Anti-Defamation Commission and as the director of the Israel office of the British Israel Public Affairs Centre.
Danny is also a documentary film maker and co-produced and directed the film "The Buchenwald Ball' (SBS, 2006).
