Requesting airport reception

What it is
We'll come and meet you at the airport when you first arrive as a new student, and take you to your accommodation. The VU airport reception service is offered to all new international students at the start of your course.

When to get here
You should aim to arrive in Melbourne at least one week before orientation week at VU. This will give you time to find the University, get all the information you need and settle into your accommodation arrangements. Check your letter of offer and accompanying documents to make sure you know when all the important dates are for your first semester.

Make a request to use this service
To request us to organise people to greet you when you arrive at Melbourne Airport and take you to your place of residence free of charge you need to download, complete and return to us an International Student Arrival form at least ten days before you intend to arrive. The form is in your pre-departure package, or download it now.

When you arrive
When you arrive at Melbourne Airport, a representative of Harlan Coach Tours will meet you when you have completed your customs and quarantine clearance. The driver will be holding a sign that says 'Harlan Coach Tours' and 'Victoria University'. Look for the sign.

Flights delays or changes
If your flight is delayed, if you miss your connecting flight to Melbourne, or for some other reason you are unable to locate your driver, please call us on (+61 3) 9919 4953 during business hours 9am-5pm Monday to Friday. If your flight is scheduled to arrive after business hours (9am-5pm Monday to Friday) contact the driver directly on his mobile number, Harlan Coach Tours Driver: Harrison: on 0412 073 749

Melbourne Airport
Melbourne Airport is about 25 minutes drive from the city via the Tullamarine Freeway. From the Melbourne Airport you can arrange a hire car, catch the Skybus super shuttle  to the Centre of Melbourne the city or catch a taxi to your final destination. To view maps of the Melbourne

Avalon Airport
We presume that all of our arriving students arrive at Melbourne Airport. Some domestic airlines fly to and from Avalon Airport which is about 40 minutes from Melbourne. You can get there by car, taxi or the Sunbus. Please make sure that your airport reception booking reflects this requirement.
