COMMUNITY WELFARE WORK

Diploma of Community Welfare Work   (CHC50702)

Provides the skills and knowledge required to work in the Community Welfare sector through direct client work, group work and community development projects.

On successful completion of the course, you will be qualified to pursue a career working in Community Service organisations.

Applicants must demonstrate paid and/or voluntary experience in community related work, and be able to undertake study at Diploma level and/or have year 12 or equivalent.

The course is two years full time, or part time equivalent.

The course is based at Footscray Nicholson Campus.

The course covers:

  • Manage the organisation's finances, accounts, resources and work environment
  • Develop and implement a community development strategy and policy, networks, effective communication, group activities
  • Develop, facilitate and monitor all aspects of case management
  • Respond holistically and intensively to client issues
  • Meet statutory and organisational information requirements
  • Reflect and improve upon professional practice
  • Undertake systems advocacy and research practice.

  • 2009 VE Direct Admission form and a 2009 Commnutiy Reference form - find these at Future Students - Application Forms

Full time applicants must also complete a VTAC application - refer to the latest VTAC guide or www.vtac.edu.au; submit a current resume; attend an information session and interview (Phone 9919 8674).

Entry is based on the Supplementary Application Form, Professional Reference Form, your current resume, a group interview and a brief written task.

Agencies may require a police clearance prior to undertaking a placement in the sector.
