Rigging

To legally work as a Rigger, you must complete the appropriate level of Certificate of Competency in order to get a WorkSafe licence/ticket. Industry Skills Training provides the following rigging training courses:

AM I ELIGIBLE?
For all our rigging courses, you must:

  • be at least 18
  • have the WorkSafe Dogging Certificate of Competency.

You must:

  • bring two passport photos to the first training session
  • provide proof of identity as per attached Proof of Identity Requirements for Undertaking a Course / WorkSafe Assessment
  • attend all scheduled training sessions at all scheduled times
  • wear safety boots during training
  • provide own writing materials including blue/black pen and paper.

COMBINED BASIC / INTERMEDIATE RIGGING

Competency: BCG 3042A Undertake Rigging
(from Certificate III in General Construction BCG31398)
Provides training in the basic and intermediate skills required to safely perform rigging work.

WHAT DOES IT COVER?
Basic rigging skills:

  • Plan Rigging Operations
  • Rigging Materials, Tools and Equipment
  • Movement of Plant and Equipment
  • Erection of Steel Structures
  • Placement of Pre-Cast Concrete (other than tilt panels)
  • Cantilevered Crane Loading Platforms
  • Mast Climbers.

Intermediate rigging skills including:

  • Demolition of Structures
  • Rigging of Cranes, Conveyors and Excavators
  • Tilt Slab Erection
  • Dual Crane Lifts.

HOW LONG'S THE COURSE?
Full-time: 8am - 4pm, nine consecutive working days.
Part-time 5:30 - 9:30pm (one or two nights per week).

WHERE IS IT?
Industry Skills Training, Gate 4 Hoppers Lane, Werribee

WHAT DOES IT COST?
$520.70 per person (includes Tuition and Materials Fees).
Plus $60 per licence category to WorkSafe Victoria for National Certification.

BASIC RIGGING

Develops the skills and knowledge required to safely and efficiently perform basic rigging work.

WHAT DOES IT COVER?
Basic rigging skills including:

  • Plan Rigging Operations
  • Rigging Materials Tools and Equipment
  • Movement of Plant and Equipment
  • Erection of Steel Structures
  • Placement of Pre-cast Concrete (other than tilt panels)
  • Cantilevered Crane loading Platforms
  • Mast Climbers.

HOW LONG'S THE COURSE?
Full-time: 8am - 4pm, five days.
Part-time 5:30 - 9:30pm (one or two nights per week).

INTERMEDIATE RIGGING ONLY

Develops the skills and knowledge required to safely and efficiently perform intermediate rigging work.

WHAT DOES IT COVER?
Basic rigging skills including:

  • Demolition of Structures
  • Rigging of Cranes, Conveyors and Excavators
  • Tilt Slab Erection
  • Dual Crane Lifts.

HOW LONG'S THE COURSE?
Full-time: 8am - 4pm, four days.
