Overhead Travelling Crane

To legally operate most Overhead Travelling Cranes, you must complete this Certificate of Competency in order to get a WorkSafe licence/ticket.

Competency TDTD4301A Shift Loads Using Gantry Cranes
(from Certificate III in Transport and Distribution (Road Transport) TDT30202).
Provides basic training in the safe operation of Overhead Travelling Cranes and Gantries and includes WorkSafe assessment (cost included in course fee)

AM I ELIGIBLE?
You must:

  • be at least 18. See attachment Proof of Identity Requirements for Undertaking a Course / WorkSafe Assessment
  • have completed a Dogging or Crane Chaser Certificate of Competency.

WHAT DOES IT COVER?
Provides practical training on cabin type overhead travelling cranes, and also includes:

  • Regulations and Legislation
  • Occupational Health and Safety
  • Operator Responsibilities
  • Hazard Identification
  • Crane Types and Components
  • Pre-operational Checks
  • Crane Testing
  • Crane Principles
  • Crane Direction and Signals
  • Slings and Lifting Gear.

HOW LONG'S THE COURSE?
Full-time: 8am - 4pm, four days.

WHERE IS IT?
Industry Skills Training, Gate 4 Hoppers Lane, Werribee.

WHAT DOES IT COST?
$185.30 per person (includes Tuition and Materials Fees).
Plus $65 to WorkSafe Victoria for National Certification (licence).

PLEASE NOTE
You must:

  • bring four (4) passport photos to the first training session
  • attend all scheduled training sessions at all scheduled times, otherwise entry to the training course may be refused
  • wear safety boots during training
  • provide own writing materials including blue/black pen and paper
  • bring a calculator.
