Elevating Work Platforms

To legally operate a boom type elevating platforms with a boom length of 11 metres or more, you must complete this Certificate of Competency in order to get a WorkSafe licence/ticket.

Competency BCG2007A Operate Elevating Work Platforms
(from Certificate III in General Construction BCG31398)
Provides basic theoretical and practical training in the safe operation of boom type elevating work platforms and includes WorkSafe assessment (cost included in course fee). The theory of safe operation of other types such as scissor lifts is also covered.

AM I ELIGIBLE?
You must be:

  • at least 18
  • able to work at heights.

WHAT DOES IT COVER?
In addition to practical training on a boom type elevating work platform, the course covers:

  • Regulations and Legislation
  • Occupational Health and Safety
  • Operator Responsibilities
  • Hazard Identification
  • Assessment Requirements
  • Elevated Platform Vehicle Types and Components
  • Pre-operational Checks
  • Elevated Platform Vehicle Set-up
  • Elevated Platform Vehicle Principles.

HOW LONG'S THE COURSE?
Full-time: 8am - 4pm, two days.
Part-time 5:30 - 9:30pm (one or two nights per week).

WHERE IS IT?
Industry Skills Training, Gate 4 Hoppers Lane, Werribee.

WHAT DOES IT COST?
$199.90 per person (includes Tuition and Materials Fees).
Plus $60 per licence category to WorkSafe Victoria for National Certification.
