This course is for you if you wish to become a driving instructor or if already doing driver instruction, provides you with a nationally recognised qualification.
AM I ELIGIBLE?
You must:
- have a current full driver's licence with a minimum of four years driving experience and be able to competently drive a manual transmission car
- be able to read, write and understand English at least to National Reporting System Level 3. You will be required to read the Road Safety Regulations, Road Safety Act and Road Rules; write answers to questions; and give presentations in class and vehicle.
WHAT DOES IT COVER?
Develops driver instructor skills - driver training is done in Toyota Camry 5 speed manual transmission cars - as well as knowledge of the different state and territory regulatory systems through the following Units of Study:
- VBN088 Implement Driver Training
A systematic driving program for the learner driver. - TDTC197B Drive Vehicles
Safe, systematic driving with efficient control of all vehicle functions while maintaining traffic and road conditions. - VBN089 Work Effectively in the Motor Vehicle Instruction Industry
Legislation, regulations and codes of practice applicable to the driving instruction industry. - VBN090 Vehicle Presentation and Left Seat Controls
Operate left seat controls of the driver training vehicle and present the vehicle appropriately. - SRSCOP003A Demonstrate Personal Image and Presentation Skills
Professional presentation to clients in both professional and social situations. - BSBCMN310A Deliver and Monitor a Service to Customers
Identify customer's needs and monitor the service provided to customers. - TDTF197B Follow OH&S Procedures
OH&S procedures when carrying out work activities including hazard identification and risk control, and compilation of OH&S records. - VBN087 Financial Transactions and Records Maintenance
Calculate fees, handle payment transactions and maintain records for accounting purposes.
HOW LONG'S THE COURSE?
5:30 - 9:30pm, Mondays and Wednesdays, for approx. 16 weeks.
