The Department of Engineering Technology conducts a wide variety of courses that provide vocational education for a variety of mechanical manufacturing, mechatronics and civil engineering occupations ranging from pre-employment through to the para-professional level.
In addition to these courses, the Department conducts traineeships, and training courses for industry, such as the Department's on-site training for a number of high-tech, niche markets including aerospace, high pressure powdered coatings and laser cutting industries. The Department's advanced facilities are used to aid course delivery.
The Department has established strong links with local industry, including companies such as Festo and Toyota.
Other Departmental programs include VET in Schools and new apprenticeship programs and a new marine training program - designed to meet the expected demand from the development of the Docklands precinct.
