Health Sciences Teaching Clinics

The Health Sciences Teaching Clinics have been established since the 1990s to provide a learning, teaching, practice and research facility for students and staff of the School of Biomedical and Health Sciences.

The students undertaking their clinical practice at the Health Sciences Teaching Clinics have all had appropriate class room study and laboratory practice and are under the guidance and supervision of qualified and registered practitioner.

The services currently offered are:

  • Acupuncture
  • Chinese Herbal Medicine
  • Osteopathic Medicine.

Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine have been used successfully by the Chinese for over 2000 years to maintain health and wellbeing.

Osteopathy was founded in 1874 and came to Australia in the early 1900s. Osteopathic Medicine provides a manual therapeutics approach for a wide variety of problems including back and neck pain, headaches, sporting injuries and menstrual complaints.

Nutritional Therapy uses the principles of diet, supplements and lifestyle advice to enhance and maintain health and wellbeing.  It can be applied to sport, work and lifestyle performance.  It can assist with many problems including digestion, energy levels, immunity and stress.

Services provided at the Health Sciences Teaching Clinics are available to members of the general public as well as members of the University community.
