This area of Dermal Therapies is designed to provide training in dermal care in a paramedical context, allowing graduates to offer advanced treatments to their clients, and to work together with the medical profession in providing such treatments. These treatments encompass complimentary techniques that enhance and maintain the well being of the client. Graduates can also work with the medical profession pre and post operatively to enhance aesthetic outcomes of dermal plastic and re-constructive surgery.
More specifically these skills include techniques to improve healing and reduce scar tissue. High strength chemical peels, micro-dermabrasion, Lymphatic drainage, low and high level laser, phototherapy and nutrition are just some aspects of the course. A full listing of the subjects and course information can be obtained from the Victoria University - Faculty of Health, Engineering and science Handbook.
Our subject information is constantly updated with the latest developments through an interaction between the University, the Graduates and The Australian Society of Dermal Clinicians.
The Bachelor of Health Science (Clinical Dermal Therapies) has been replaced by the expanded Bachelor of Health Science (Dermal Therapies). This new course will commence in 2007. This course is not available online.
